One night, tycoon William Parrish experiences a violent pain as a voice emerges from the darkness and announces his imminent death. At that moment, a young stranger arrives at his home to accompany him on his final journey. This messenger from the afterlife forces Parrish to stay with him in order to give him the opportunity to share for a while the experiences, joys, emotions, and dramas of the living, who seem alien to him. In the space of three days, Joe Black reveals the entire Parrish family to itself.
